Nassau County Police officers responded to a reported disturbance near the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Leonard Avenue in Uniondale at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, where they found two women fighting.
Police said that the investigation determined that Hempstead resident Sabrina Cummings, age 37, and Roosevelt resident Tanya James, age 46 were involved in an altercation at Classico Bar that spilled out into the street.
It is alleged that while inside the bar, James stabbed Cummings in her right arm before the fight was taken outside.
At that point, police said that both women were armed with a knife and stabbed and slashed one another before officers intervened.
Officers were able to take both Cummings and James into custody without incident and transported them to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Both Cummings and James were charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. James was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation. Police said that both women will be arraigned when “medically practical.”
